Scholars in Service to Lehigh Valley is an initiative at Cedar Crest College that recognizes, trains, and supports students who are civically engaged. Five selected students will pledge to complete 100 hours of service and, in exchange for that commitment, will receive leadership and organizing training, support from the Lutz Center for Community Service staff and fellow Scholars, participate in ongoing supervision and reflection activities, and a $1000 stipend supported by Air Products.
The bulk of the service work will be completed through specific service placements with each Scholar expected to work with community organizations 10 hours per week for 10 weeks and attend monthly supervision/reflection sessions with the rest of the group. Hours and impact statements will be recorded through the GivePulse.com community service data system to ensure the appropriate number of hours are completed prior to compensation.
