The purposes of the nursing honor society are to recognize superior achievement and the development of leadership qualities, to foster high professional standards, to encourage creative work, and to strengthen commitment to the ideas and purposes of the nursing profession. Nursing students are eligible for membership if, at the end of the junior year, they have a grade point average of 3.0 or better, are in the upper one-third of their nursing class, and have demonstrated academic integrity and professional leadership potential. The number of candidates cannot exceed one-third of the total number of nursing students graduating in each class. Theta Rho chapter at Cedar Crest College is governed by the bylaws recommended by Sigma Theta Tau International.
